Evolving a cult Icon.
Harry Josh Pro Tools occupies a distinct niche, bridging the gap between heavy-duty, salon reliability and lightweight ergonomics for the luxury consumer. When tasked with refreshing their flagship halo product, the Pro Dryer 2000, the objective was not to reinvent a classic but to strategically evolve it for a contemporary market while protecting its established brand equity.
We focused on preserving and refining the signature visual DNA that defines the Harry Josh brand: the mint-green chassis, the curved banana handle, the protective side barrier strip, and the defining rear vent fin. To elevate the user experience for professional stylists, we designed a highly tactile, integrated a toggle switch control system and an leather hanging strap tailored for fast-paced salon environments. While the finalized design achieved feedback from the client, the parallel development of a high-performance internal motor pacakge ultimately exceeded mass-production cost thresholds, leaving the project to never be released to the public.
